Tonneau vision is nothing new, but Louis Bolle

brings to you here again big time, giving you much

to work with: the barrel shape that comes with the?

tonneau? term; the big date connotation that we

mean when we say ?big time.? Oh, and big time

as in big watch, too, which brings us to the inherent

benefit of the tonneau style, in that it fits nice and

sleekly under long sleeve dress shirts even though the

case may be rather large.

Paradoxically, the style hints toward traditional, even

archaic tastes. In another word: retro, always meaningful

as far as Louis Bolle is concerned.

Yet another window into the quality of a Louis Bolle is

literally just that, an exhibition case back allowing an

open view of the inner workings of this magnificent timepiece.

Considered a master watchmaker after a mere three years

apprenticeship, Jean-Louis Bolle sought a worthy partner in

Abram Dubois and the two established a firm for creating

rough movements in their Swiss homeland. By 1758 they

began turning out components and tools for neighboring

watchmakers, building the company, establishing themselves,

still very young in the business.

Within two years, their firm

began working with Geneva watchmakers who had reputable

trade with high-end clients in Paris. From there, the clientele

expanded across the seas: London, New York and on and on.

From humble beginnings, success built upon success, from

chambered apprenticeship to international renown. Jean-Louis

Bolle was a watchmaker of honest craftsmanship. And so today,

we proudly offer these timepieces inspired by the spirit of this

master watchmaker, an individual whose heart and soul grew

from the furrows and terraces of Alpine farmland.

His was an influence that runs humbly and quietly through all time.

We now measure time with these pieces of technology harvested

from the seeds of his artistry.
